Waspadalah terhadap e-mail yang masuk ke dalam account e-mail anda, khususnya yang bernuansa/bernada meminta bantuan uang. E-mail tersebut bisa jadi suatu penipuan yang memanfaatkan jaringan teknologi informatika yang canggih.
Belum lama ini, e-mail pribadi Deddy P. Tambunan (pengelola Situs Gerejani Dot Com) di jaringan Yahoo.com, mendapat pesan dari seseorang yang sangat dikenal oleh pria yang juga Koordinator JPMKM, tetapi pesan yang disampaikan justru mengundang kecurigaan.
E-mail tersebut disampaikan dalam bahasa Inggris, dikirim dengan subjek "This is urgent", dengan status tertuju "undisclosed recipients". Teks e-mail tersebut berbunyi sebagai berikut " did you receive the previous email i sent to you? please i need this to be very personal between me and you until i leave here,I am in the UK now,i had to travel down here briefly for a personal meeting which i was not even able to meet up with anymore. Unfortunately for me when i arrived here in UK all my money was stolen at the hotel where i lodged, I am so confused right now, I dont know what to do or where to go,I didn't bring my phone here,I have access to only emails. Please can you send me £2000GBP right away today so i can leave here, As soon as i get back i will refund it to you immediately. please once you get my email, just help me go and have it sent immediately through Western union money transfer,that is the only way i can receive the money here and faster,this is the address you will need to use in sending it:

Koordinator Gerejani Dot Com menaruh curiga atas e-mail tersebut, dan setelah melakukan pengecekan ulang ke orang-orang yang juga mengenal pemilik e-mail tersebut, diketahui bahwa yang bersangkutan tidak sedang berada di luar negeri (Inggris), dan e-mail tersebut telah dibajak oleh orang lain yang tidak dikenalnya. Klarifikasi tersebut disampaikan secara berantai melalui layanan pesan singkat telepon selular.
Bersama ini dihimbau kepada khalayak luas, berhati-hatilah dalam menerima, membaca dan merespon e-mail yang dimiliki, bila didapat suatu pesan yang bernuansa/bernada meminta sejumlah uang, mohon dilakukan pengecekan ulang kepada pihak-pihak tertentu yang layak dimintai konfirmasinya.
